About Abriachan Garden & Nursery

Established in 1983

We started to build the gardens in 1983 when we returned from living in the Falkland Islands. Over the years the garden and nursery have grown up the hillside, merging with the lush native woodlands.

Meet the gardeners

We’re Don and Margaret Davidson and we run Abriachan Garden and Nursery with our son Hamish.

Margaret studied horticulture and plans the plantings, while Donald is the stone wall architect, and runs the nursery with Hamish. We propagate our range of hardy plants for Scottish conditions with the help of our friendly team, Rebecca and SJ.

Sometimes we’re on the loose

You may have met Hamish manning the Abriachan Nursery stall at one of the markets around the Highlands. He’s also an amazing Christmas wreath maker and a fount of knowledge about all things garden.

Catch us at a market

Almost every weekend, we’re at a local market somewhere in the Highlands. Come say hi to Hamish and take home some stunning hardy plants grown here by Loch Ness for Highland conditions.

Book a garden tour

We run private guided tours of the gardens for groups of 5-10 for £10.00 per person. Tours take 45 minutes to an hour. Please be sure to book in advance and talk to us if you’d like to bring a larger group.

You’ll be walking up steep woodland tracks and steps, so we’re afraid these tours aren’t suitable for people in wheelchairs, or parents with pushchairs.

You’re also welcome to take a self-guided stroll around the garden for £4.00 per person. We’re open from 9:00am-5:00pm seven days a week.
